Pandit for Asthi Visarjan at Panchavati Nashik
Expert in Asthi Visarjan, Pind Daan, Dashkriya Vidhi
Ramkund is the holiest spot in Nashik as it is believed to be the place where Lord Rama used to bathe during his Vanvasa. Chitrarao Khatav, a landholder of Khatav built this place in 1696 and was later repaired by Gopikabai. Gopikabai was the mother of Madhavrao the fourth Peshva.
Ramkund is located along the bank of Godavari River. Ramkund, also called the 'Ganges' of the south or "Dakshin Ganga", is the most important and holy place in Panchavati. This is because only at Nashik of all the places along the banks of river Godavari the flow of the River is in the south direction.
According to Garuda Puran, It is said that the Asthi Visrjan, Pind daan, etc rituals should be done in the river whose flow is in the south. Hence the name "Dakshin Ganga"
People bring ashes of their deceased relatives and immerse it in Asthivilay kund. This kund is known to contain the bone dissolving properties in 3.5 hours. Ashes of big personalities like Indira Gandhi, Y B Chavan Pandit Nehru, etc, have been immersed at Ramkund over the period of years.
According to sacred scriptures, it is said that whoever ashes are immersed in Ramkund/Panchvati Nashik, gets free from the circle of Birth and Death. For that very reason, Lord Ram came to Ramkund to immerse the ashes of his father King Dashrath.
